On 28 April 20198, Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers, Four Points by Sheraton Surabaya participated in the collaborative action in celebration of Earth Day in Mangrove Forest, Wonorejo, Surabaya. Collaborating with Kelompok Petani Tambak Trunojoyo (Trunojoyo Ponds Farmer Association), the properties of Marriott International in Surabaya managed to donate hundreds of mangrove seeds as well as take action in the mudflat area to pick-up plastic trash as part of their action in saving earth. Mangrove has been known to bring benefits for the environment, such as: preventing sea water intrusion, preventing coastal erosion and abrasion, acting as natural decompositor of organic waste and natural barriers to sea breeze, acting as food source for animals, and playing an important role in land's formation and stabilizing the coastal areas.
